Naturally Colored Cotton

Naturally colored cotton dates back to the ancient Americas almost 4,500 years ago. These unbleached varieties are naturally resistant to pests and diseases, more resilient to washing, and become richer over time.

Tests have revealed naturally colored cotton to be naturally antimicrobial and non-allergenic. This is especially so in our red-brown varieties, which has shown a remarkable resistance to bacteria.

Textile dying is one of the most polluting and energy intensive processes in the fashion industry. Even natural dyes can be teamed with toxic chemicals to ensure color fastness. These toxins can be absorbed through prolonged exposure to skin, which is why we choose to use naturally colored fibers.

We are the first brand to bring this heritage fiber back to the fore. Our Japanese mill is one of the few producers in the world milling naturally colored GOTS-certified cotton sustainably.
